Evidence for an entropy bound from fundamentally discrete gravity
The various entropy bounds that exist in the literature suggest that spacetime is fundamentally discrete, and hint at an underlying relationship between geometry and “information”. The foundation of this relationship is yet to be uncovered, but should manifest itself in a theory of quantum gravity. We present a measure for the maximal entropy of spherically symmetric spacelike regions within th...
متن کاملHolographic entropy bound in two-dimensional gravity
Bousso’s entropy bound for two-dimensional gravity is investigated in the lightcone gauge. It is shown that due to the Weyl anomaly, the null component of the energy-momentum tensor takes a nonvanishing value, and thus, combined with the conditions that were recently proposed by Bousso, Flanagan and Marolf, a holographic entropy bound similar to Bousso’s is expected to hold in two dimensions. A...
متن کاملEntropy Bound and Causality Violation in Higher Curvature Gravity
In any quantum theory of gravity we do expect corrections to Einstein gravity to occur. Yet, at fundamental level, it is not apparent what the most relevant corrections are. We argue that the generic curvature square corrections present in lower dimensional actions of various compactified string theories provide a natural passage between the classical and quantum realms of gravity. The Gauss-Bo...

متن کاملOn the entropy bound of three dimensional simplicial gravity
It is proven that the partition function of 3-dimensional simplicial gravity has an exponential upper bound with the following assumption: any three dimensional sphere S is constructed by repeated identification of neighboring links and neighboring triangles in the boundary of a simplicial 3-ball. This assumption is weaker than the one proposed by other authors.
